Chris has played key roles in the design and execution of dozens of buildings under three well-known architects in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, netting over fifty design awards, including a national AIA award for the Woolly Mammoth Theatre, and more than a dozen publications. His work spans the DC / MD / VA Metro area, Baltimore, the Chesapeake Bay region, Delaware and Maryland beachfronts, Massachusetts, Northern Michigan, and Miami Beach.
His career has reinforced and developed the principles of thoughtful design, material articulation, and quality construction in which he immersed himself while earning his Bachelors of Architecture at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia and its urban extension WAAC outside Washington, DC.
As an artist, craftsman, shameless tinkerer, and ridiculously under-qualified backyard mechanic, Chris combines the sculptural aspects of space-making, a first-hand understanding of practical assembly and construction, and an insatiable curiosity to craft beautiful and long-lasting solutions with builders, tradespeople, and other designers.
